Welcome Message from Carol Jenkins
For more than 90 years, World Learning has equipped individuals and institutions to address the world’s most pressing problems. We believe that, working together with our partners, we can change this world for the better.
On my travels, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with many of those who have joined us in this mission. In Baghdad, we’ve trained more than 2,300 Iraqi youth who are already giving back at home. In London, our partners in the TAAP Initiative strongly believe that we are all responsible to practice inclusion. And in Vermont, our Experiment in International Living and School for International Training participants prove every day that they have the tools and the determination to change the world.
Please join us in our pursuit of a more peaceful and just world.

Program Description
The Leadership Development Fellowship (formerly known as the Leaders for Democracy Fellowship (LDF) Program) was a seven-year leadership development initiative designed to advance civic engagement and social entrepreneurship in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The LDF Fellowship was funded by the U.S. Department of State’s U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and implemented by World Learning.
Over a seven-year period, the LDF Fellowship aimed to engage more than 200 emerging leaders across sectors from the MENA region in identifying innovative ways to address social and economic challenges in local communities. The LDF Fellowship advanced participants’ civic engagement and social entrepreneurship by providing advanced technical skills, financial and professional resources, and regional support networks.
The LDF Fellows were innovators and problem-solvers, actively engaged in civic engagement and social entrepreneurship, capable of working in a cross-cultural setting, possessed excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and committed to applying the learning and skills built during the LDF Fellowship.

- The LDF Fellowship aimed to support fellows in acquiring relevant skills to advance initiatives to solve complex local, economic, environmental, political, and social challenges affecting communities.
