Dr. Aqeel Tirmizi Appointed Faculty Director of Oman
Master of Global Management Program

BRATTLEBORO, VT (March 5, 2009) -- Dr. S. Aqeel Tirmizi, Associate Professor of Management at the SIT Graduate Institute, has been appointed to the position of Faculty Director of SIT's new Oman Master of Global Management (MGM) program, effective immediately. The MGM program, which begins in September 2009, offers students a unique opportunity to study at World Learning's educational center in Oman where they will develop global management expertise applicable to leadership roles in multiple international sectors.
 
Dr. Tirmizi brings to the Oman MGM program a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and leadership at SIT, and a professional portfolio that includes more than 15 years of international experience in teaching, capacity building, research and management. He holds a Master's degree in International Administration and a Ph.D. in Management and teaches and conducts research in the areas of organizational behavior, effective multicultural teams, performance management, human resource management, and leadership and change.

Prior to joining the faculty of SIT in 2002, Dr. Tirmizi taught at SUNY Binghamton, The Lahore University of Management Sciences, and in the Global Partnership Program in NGO Leadership and Management, BRAC, Bangladesh. He is the recent co-editor of a volume (with Claire Halverson) entitled, Effective Multicultural Teams, published by Springer, has presented his work at leading international conferences, and has consulted with the Ford International Fellowship program, Heifer International, Eisenhower Fellows Program, The World Bank, The Aga Khan Rural Support Program-Pakistan, and other global organizations.
